CALIFORNIA DREAMIN' WITH AG

Being born and raised in Cali, I find myself constantly drawn to the feeling of an endless summer and California Dreamin'. Long days at the beach, palm trees, bright sunshine, blue skies and vintage cars... that is what my Cali-cool dreams are made of.

I recently partnered with AG on this look that exemplifies a relaxed, laid-back style, and includes my current denim obsession. The Tellis in 22 Years Melville is pretty much my ideal pair of jeans... soft, distressed, and with a vintage wash that is familiar yet modern at the same time. When paired with The Downey Striped Polo, it's an outfit that's ideal for any lazy day in Cali.

DOUBLE DENIM WITH BOOHOOMAN

No shame in the fact that I love to rock double denim. Voila! For this latest outing, I decided to mix it up a bit in terms of the shades and finishes. This pair of shredded up acid wash denim just screams 80's (an obvious plus for me) and the army green distressed denim jacket adds a dose of modern cool to the look. Bonus... both of these killer pieces are from boohooMAN!

DOUBLE THE DENIM

As I always say... double the denim, double the fun!

I am way overdue for some recent outfit shots, and between work, spending time with family and friends, and taking time for myself... apologies!

As a little backstory to this outfit, I unapologetically love the historically tacky combo of denim on denim. However, my love for this combo has recently evolved. As recent as a few years ago, I used to think that wearing double denim was only cool if you mixed up the washes. So, for example, wearing a dark wash denim shirt with a pair of light wash jeans. Now, I'm like... who cares! Give me some light wash jeans and a light wash shirt and I'm down.

PRINTED SHORTS

There's something so easy about throwing a denim jacket on over a t-shirt during the summer months, which is made especially fun when a printed pair of shorts is thrown into the mix.

For this look, I decided to bring one of my favorite pairs of shorts out of retirement - this vibrant pair by Mr. Turk that I bought in Palm Springs several summers ago. Punchy colors and unique prints = ideal for summer.

SUNBLEACHED BLUES

As I'm getting ready for the summer months - LA has actually had a summer sneak preview lately due to recent scorching temps - I am all about relaxed fit, casual pieces. I went monochromatic for this recent outfit, teaming pieces with varying shades of sunbleached blues, for a weekend look that was easy yet cool.

My favorite new Neff shades added a futuristic fashion touch.

DENIM OVERLOAD

Truth be told, I have a special place in my heart for a good denim moment. When a cool combo of denim washes are paired together (I usually like to pair a light wash with a medium or dark wash), I feel like the old cliche of a Canadian tuxedo (aka denim-on-denim nightmare) no longer applies. Then again, there was just something so glamorously awful about Britney and Justin's infamous VMA moment. #neverforget

MIXING DENIM

One of my favorite things to do is play around with mixing denim, from light to dark washes and this dope new pair of bleached cutoffs.

For this look, I kept the shades to blue and white and of course added on my favorite skeleton slippers! Hope everyone's having a killer summer so far.

A SHERPA SITUATION

Today, I decided to wear this really rad vintage Levi's sherpa denim jacket that I scored over the weekend at one of my favorite thrift stores on Fairfax. It's funny, I was just saying the night before how I was on the hunt for a super soft, worn-in denim jacket (and sherpa lining would be a plus!).

It seems that since I put that out there in the universe, the shopping gods decided to be kind. Love it when that happens!
