NYC TIMES TWO

Found myself in NYC for a brief 48 hours last week, and luckily got out JUST before storm Jonas pummeled the city with massive amounts of snow and ice. 

Since I'm ride or die West Coaster, my "cold weather" clothes are cool for LA but don't quite cut it for New York. I wasn't quite frozen to the core, but I did the best I could given my options.

My two winter-in-the-city looks are below!

NYC X FEB 2015: PART I

Last week was spent braving New York City's blisteringly cold temperatures for a mixture of work and play, and as usual, the city delivered some memorable moments that only it can.

From brunching with my buds Kat, Vanessa and Quan at Marta (featuring some insanely delicious avocado toast on the prettiest plates) to dodging the snowfall in and out of cabs and the subway, oysters and shellfish galore, a surf lodge haven amongst the sleet, lots of coffee and espresso, this was a fun one.

SNOW DAY

As you can probably see, I'm currently freezing my buns off in NYC. A definite change of pace from LA's 75° winter!

Since the extent of my cold-weather clothes is pretty limited, I turn to my trusty basics when stepping out in the snow. Truth be told, this is actually only the second or third time I've seen snow in my life!

What can I say, I'm a beach bum at heart.

NYC SNAPSHOTS

My trip to NYC several weeks ago was filled with the following:

Chilly walks around the city, a major Meg Ryan meets Tom Hanks moment with my love Vanessa of The Haute Pursuit and inspiring conversations over espresso at Stumptown Coffee Roasters, camel coats and leather biker pants, exploring The Met with my darling Lindsay, killer good spicy tortilla soup at Barrio Chino and out of this world uni toast at Saikai Dining Bar, cozy chats on Kat's couch and drinking either Scholium Wines red wine or Momofuku Milk Bar pretzel milk, conquering the Brooklyn Flea Market with Lindsay, Natalie and Dylana, subway rides and an incredibly beautiful French meal with seats overlooking the kitchen at Racines.

Pretty rad trip, if I say so myself!

Just returned to LA after a wonderful, whirlwind trip to NYC and wanted to share several of my Instagram posts with you!

NYC SWAG

It feels so good to be back in NYC. The energy, the style, the inspiration and the je ne sais quoi I have missed so since I was last here over the summer! This cool wall of street art photography outside my hotel, the Mondrian in Soho, caught my eye. I am intrigued by the concept of taking graffiti and street art, photographing it, and repurposing it again on the street. Anyways, this look is what I call my "NYC Swag" - can't go wrong with my new camouglage biker jacket and essential leather skinny pants. And let's not forget my black snapback... O B S E S S E D with snapbacks lately!
